Doctor General Pediatrics

Dr. Dodds P. Simangan is a board-certified general pediatrician and an Associate Professor at UNLV. Originally from Spokane, Washington, he received his Osteopathic medical degree from A.T. Still University in Arizona and completed his pediatric residency and served as Chief Resident at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Las Vegas, where he continued on as faculty.

Guided by his background in Sociology and Public Health, Dr. Simangan is committed to a “whole-person” approach, viewing himself as a healer, advocate, and educator. Dr. Simangan’s clinical skills encompass the full scope of general pediatrics, providing comprehensive care to patients from infancy through adolescence via services such as routine well visits, sick visits, and telehealth.  This setting of an Academic Pediatric Clinic allows him to be both a care provider and a teacher, giving families the time they need to express their concerns, and also incorporate a team-based approach. He actively brings new, grant-funded programs and initiatives to the clinic, including FASD training, food insecurity screening, an in-house breastfeeding clinic, and standardized screening for perinatal mental health.

For his expertise, Dr. Simangan has been consistently recognized as a “Top Doc” by Castle Connolly (5 consecutive years), Desert Companion (2021-2025), and Modern Luxury Vegas (2023). He was also named one of the Top AAPI Doctors for 2023, 2024, and 2025.  He was also awarded as one of the “Most Resourceful Faculty” from his Pediatric residents for being highly adept with linking community resources to families in need, and teaching residents to have that same commitment to their patients.
