Doctor Ear Nose & Throat (ENT)

Tina Elkins, MD, joined the faculty at Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Department of Otolaryngology in 2018. Prior to moving to Las Vegas, she was the primary owner of a successful general ENT practice in Athens, Texas since 2005. While serving a surrounding community of approximately 75,000, she treated many ENT conditions such as difficulty breathing due to septal deviation or tonsil enlargement, chronic sinusitis, allergies, ear infections, throat infections, hearing loss, thyroid masses, skin cancers and head and neck cancer. She enjoys being able to work with all ages, newborn to geriatric.

Prior to starting medical school, she graduated with honors from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center with a degree in Communication Disorders, giving her exposure to understanding speech disorders as well as hearing loss.  When not in school, Dr. Elkins focused on research in head and neck cancers and pediatric sleep apnea.

While attending medical school at UT- Houston, Dr. Elkins continued to work in head and neck cancer doing research at MDAnderson Cancer Center. She graduated in the top three of her class in 2000 and served on numerous committees during medical school. She was also elected President of the Alpha Omega honor society and an Outstanding Woman in Medicine.

Dr. Elkins completed her general surgery internship at UT- Houston in 2001, and then joined the ENT program, completing her residency in 2005. During her time in residency she was nominated to the committee on International Hearing Loss with the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. She also worked on numerous publications, presented at national meetings on pediatric sleep apnea, and assisted in developing a new technique for performing neonatal tracheostomy.

In her private practice she continued to incorporate newer in-office techniques including treatment for sinus infections (balloon sinuplasty), eustachian tube dysfunction and age-related nasal drainage (Clarifix). She also was active in the local medical community serving as Chief of Staff, Chief of Surgery and Chair of the Hospital board at various times over her 13 years in the Athens community.  Dr. Elkins maintains a Nevada and Texas Medical License and is board certified in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.

In her off hours, she likes to spend time with her husband and three boys. They enjoy the many outdoor activities in the surrounding areas, especially hiking, skiing and swimming.
