Weiming David Chu, MD, FAPA, is an associate professor in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. A graduate of the Ross University School of Medicine, Dr. Chu completed his adult psychiatry residency at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and followed this up with a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. Dr. Chu specializes in psychopharmacology and sees patients of all ages, but he still enjoys psychotherapy where he focuses on psychodynamic therapy with adults and play therapy with children.
Having been in clinical practice for the last 15 years, Dr. Chu currently serves as the medical director of several hospitals in Orange County, California, and the department chair of psychiatry of OC Global Medical Center in Santa Ana, California. He has also created multiple medically related, profit and nonprofit businesses, which gives him a unique perspective that merges medicine and finance.
Dr. Chu has a special interest in combining technology and medicine. With this interest in mind, he has been involved in some innovative technology firms based in Taiwan to help create remote patient experiences and encounters in order to bridge the distance between caregivers and patients in remote areas that lack healthcare access.
